Davidson Garrett is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana. He trained for the theater at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and at the Herbert Berghof Studio in Greenwich Village where he was a student of Alice Spivak. A graduate of the City College of New York with a B.A. and M.S. in Education, Davidson taught school in the South Bronx for a number of years developing arts curriculum for early childhood students.

A member of Actors' Equity, Screen Actors Guild, and AFTRA, he has appeared on television in such shows as All My Children, The Guiding Light, As the World Turns, Law and Order, Oz, and Spin City. For the last several years he has worked as a background actor and stand-in on feature films, including work with the directors Woody Allen and Martin Scorsese.

As a stage actor, he has toured extensively in the United States and Europe, and has performed in verse dramas by T. S. Eliot, W. H. Auden, and William Shakespeare.

His poetry and prose have been published in The New York Times, The Episcopal New Yorker, Xavier Review (New Orleans), Third Wednesday, Sensations Magazine, The Unknown Writer, The Wild Angels Poets and Writers Anthology, (the Cathedral of St. John the Divine), and Beyond the Riff, (The Poets Press). Online he has been featured at poetryvlog.com and  BigCityLit.com. Davidson has been a featured reader at Poets House, courtesy of Sensations Magazine, The LGBT Community Center in NYC as part of the In Our Own Write Series and at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe for their Fifth Night Screenplay Series. Other featured venues include the William Carlos Williams Poetry Cooperative,(Rutherford, New Jersey), The Greek-American Writers' Association, Smalls Jazz Club, The Cornelia Stree Cafe, and The CUNY Graduate School for the Rainbow Bookfair. In July 2006, Davidson made his solo reading debut of King Lear of the Taxi at The World Monuments Fund Gallery at The Prince George in Midtown Manhattan. In early 2007, he was invited to give a series of readings for the Queensborough Public Library. In December 2007, Davidson was awarded Honorable Mention by The Beat Museum in San Francisco for their Poet-of-the-Month contest. In March, 2008, Flashgun Films of Great Britain released a short film entitled: "Taxi Driver." This film used poems from King Lear of the Taxi with Davidson Garrett as the voice-over narrator reading his poems.   In October 2009, Davidson was invited to read several poems of William Carlos Williams for the annual William Carlos Williams Symposium, at the Williams Center for the Arts in Rutherford, New Jersey.  In May 2010, he was featured in Joel Allegretti's tribute to Leonard Cohen, You Know Who I Am!, at The Cornelia Street Cafe in Greenwich Village.  In December 2011, Davidson was nominated for a Pushcart Prize by the publisher, Poets Wear Prada.
